On 1 January 2011, Dansk Retursystem A/S changed the procedure for the issuing of registration certificates to suppliers of drink products on which deposits are payable. We have taken this step to ensure that suppliers always have an updated overview of which packaging they have registered.

From June 2010, the procedure has changed so that, under all circumstances, it is now a requirement that any packaging assigned or transferred must have a different EAN barcode and GTIN.

When Dansk Retursystem A/S sends consumers' empty cans and bottles for recycling, quality is the driving force. By putting special emphasis on the quality of our sorting of empty bottles and cans we have been able, despite the current crisis affecting the reprocessing companies, to sign new contracts which ensure the most environmentally friendly form of recycling

2008 was a milestone year for Dansk Retursystem A/S. On 4 September 2008 the company had its right renewed to run the Danish deposit and return system. Dansk Retursystem A/S also has a new Chairman of the board of directors, Michael Christiansen, who was elected at an extraordinary general meeting of the company in August 2008. Another significant event for Dansk Retursystem A/S in 2008 was the introduction of deposits on mineral water, ready-to-drink lemonade, and iced tea, which led to a sizeable increase in new customers for the company.

New products on which deposits are payable must be registered with Dansk Retursystem A/S at least 4 weeks before they are imported or marketed in Denmark.

Dansk Retursystem A/S has published the company’s 2007 annual report to coincide with the annual general meeting. The growth trend in the Danish beer and soft drinks market has continued with rising market share for one-way packaging compared with refillable packaging. At the 2007 year end the market share for one-way packaging was 31% – up from 22% in 2006.
