Packaging flow
Dansk Retursystem A/S is a major player in the processing lifecycle of one-way packaging – from registration and labelling, to collection and counting of the empty packaging with a view to recycling the sorted materials.
Packaging flow is as follows:
-
Packaging must be registered.
-
Registered packaging must display the appropriate deposit label before it can be sold. See rules applying under Labels
-
Sales locations are obliged to refund deposits paid by consumers. See regulations applying to stores under Returns to stores
-
Dansk Retursystem A/S collects and counts the empty packaging.
-
After collection and counting, Dansk Retursystem A/S refunds the appropriate deposit amounts for the packaging back to the sales location. Find out more about this process by clicking on Deposit flow
-
The return percentage rate is defined as the proportion of deposit refundable packaging that is returned by consumers. Unclaimed deposits are used to improve the system.
-
Packaging collected is re-sold for melting down or scrap.
