Under Danish law, all beer, soft drinks, alcopops, energy drinks, mineral water, ised tea, cider products and water sold on the Danish market in one-way packaging must be labelled with a Danish deposit label.
Danish deposit labels look like this:
Danish deposit labels are registered trademarks owned by Dansk Retursystem A/S.
When registering new packaging, applicants must also take into account how the packaging will be labelled as deposit refundable. There are two options: direct printing onto the packaging or onto the original product label (so-called primary labelling), or self-adhesive deposit labels. Refillable bottles that are washed and refilled by the brewery or bottler do not have the Danish deposit label – but they often have the word »returflaske« on the product label.
The system comprises three types of refundable deposit, with each one refundable on delivery of the packaging to the store or outlet. Each type of one-way packaging is identified by an A, B or C label indicating to which category the packaging belongs. Discover more about refundable deposit categories under Areas covered
