Responsibility for climate and environment

Less waste, better use of nature's resources and a small carbon footprint. These are some of the positive climate and environmental benefits of recycling bottles and cans. At Dansk Retursystem A/S we take our responsibilities seriously, and constantly work to improve the way we operate. You can see some examples of what we do below:

Compactors reduce transport

In many large stores, we have installed compactors which flatten the cans and plastic bottles as soon as they have been returned by consumers. A trip through the compactor reduces cans to 1/6, and bottles to 1/3, of their original size. This means that our vehicles need to make less journeys to collect the packaging from the stores. This is good for both the climate and the environment.

Sacks and crates made of recycled plastic conserve raw materials

We use sacks and plastic crates to collect packaging. These are made from recycled plastic, and when they are no longer serviceable we make sure they are re-used. This way they turn up again in new products and contribute to conserving natural resources.

Knowledge about environmental impact

To improve our knowledge about how we can limit the climate and environmental impact of collecting and sorting, we have mapped out some ongoing activities. One of these involves initiating a so-called Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA).
